St. Joseph’s Primary School offers an Italian Language program that teaches students conversational Italian and an appreciation for Italian culture.
Our Italian program provides students with the opportunity to develop language skills while building an appreciation and understanding of Italian culture and traditions. Guided by the Victorian Curriculum, students engage in meaningful and interactive learning experiences that support speaking, listening, reading and writing in Italian.
Through songs, games, storytelling, role play, technology and cultural activities, students build confidence in using everyday Italian vocabulary and phrases. Learning a language also strengthens communication, creativity and critical thinking skills, while encouraging curiosity about the wider world.
Students explore important aspects of Italian culture including celebrations, food, traditions, geography and lifestyle, helping them make connections between languages and cultures. The program fosters collaboration, resilience and confidence as students learn to communicate in new and exciting ways.
Our Italian lessons aim to create enthusiastic and engaged learners who enjoy discovering language and culture in a fun, supportive and inclusive environment.
