Wellbeing @ STJ

At St Joseph’s Mernda, we recognise that student wellbeing is essential to both academic success and overall quality of life. Our approach is grounded in the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) framework, which uses evidence-based practices to support students’ social, emotional, and behavioural development.

This is strengthened by the implementation of the Respectful Relationships program, a government-endorsed wellbeing initiative that explicitly teaches students the skills to build positive relationships, manage emotions, and demonstrate respect for others. Together, these approaches promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Our approach focuses on prevention, early intervention, and the explicit teaching of expected behaviours. We are committed to creating a consistent and supportive environment where every student feels valued, develops strong social and emotional skills, and is empowered to thrive both academically and personally.
